Devotion by Solly Ozrovech

Hagar, gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, " I have now seen the One who sees me." (Genesis 16:13)

Some people, when they are overwhelmed with problems and difficulties, begin to feel as if they are "lost". Their problems look huge and solutions so difficult to find that their ability to answers is overwhelmed. They do not know where or to whom to turn and they don't know where to start. To add to their crisis, it seems to them as if no one is interested or willing to help them. They have to struggle on while it appears that no one even knows of their existence.

Hagar probably felt that way when she came to the spring in the desert an God appeared to her and commanded her to return to Abraham and Sarah. She was completely and utterly lost, but God in His grace appeared to her out of nowhere and promised her a future that would form part of His plan of salvation. Immediately she knew that she could not vanish out of God's sight - not even in the middle of the desert and deep in the midst of trouble.

God also sees you. You can never drift out of the range of His all-seeing eye, even when you are overwhelmed by problems and difficulties. John Newton proclaimed that the inconceivably amazing grace God could save a lost son and runaway child like him. God knows exactly where you are! He sees you, wherther you are standing on victorious ground or if you are caught in the mire of sin; in joy or despair; when you laugh or cry: God watches over you constantly.

"God is always near you and with you; leave Him not alone." Brother Lwarence

If we only, truly believed this to be really real. If we did, we would no longer sin "in private", because God is watching. This is an area I have been, am being, convicted in greatly.
