Alicia Keys Keeps a Child Alive

Alicia Keys was in South Africa for the country's FIFA 2010 World Cup opening concert, and for her keep a child alive organization. Alicia Keys blew the crowd away, not only with her magical performance on June 10 at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, but by her kind heart and gorgeous physique. Pregnant with her first child, Alicia attended a Vitamin Water press conference a few hours before the big event, where she spoke about her love for children and how her organization - which has helped around 300 000 children to date - means the world to her.

With her huge voice, and even bigger heart, the star was thrilled to be here at a time like this, and plans to continue her work in helping kids with HIV/Aids - and at the same time, asks us to help in her mission.

Alicia Keys Opens New Wellness Centre

R & B star and 13-time Grammy nominee, Alicia Keys proceeded to Wentworth, a township in Durban to open the Blue Roof Wellness Centre.

This formed formed part of her "Keep a Child Alive" campaign. Keys is the co-founder and ambassador for the campaign which transformed the Blue Roof into a state of the art-care-centre for the treatment of HIV/AIDS.

Keys first visit to the centre four years ago. It was nothing more than a derelict building that was once used as a night club. However, Keys saw this as an opportunity to provide the community with a centre that could give hope to the community.

The centre provides ant-retrovirals to 1000 patients. In addition to this, Blue Roof provides HIV counseling and testing to the community as well as home-based care, psycho-social support and nutrition program that that provides patients and families with free nutritious meals.

Keys was present to cut the ribbon of the centre. The visibly pregnant star also performed two songs to members of the community. These included "Pray for Forgiveness", which she dedicated to her mother, and "I am a Superwoman" which was dedicated to her staff who run the Aids centre.
